Yes, nowadays, I see politics as a necessary evil.
Even when people complain that a government is failing and demand change, those who campaign to replace it often end up repeating the same practices—or doing even worse.
Political godfatherism is real and difficult to avoid. If you do not belong to the system, no matter how good your plans are or how honest your intentions may be, powerful interests will work against you.
The political system also promotes power-sharing arrangements such as federal character and regional balance. For example, if a president comes from the North, it is often expected that the next leader must come from the South or another region—sometimes regardless of performance. This is the reality of our politics. If you cannot align with it, you are pushed aside.
Because of these realities, trying to change the system from within becomes extremely difficult. That is why I describe politics as a necessary evil—something no one can completely escape, no matter how clean or well-intentioned they are.
